Boat Tour, Lake of Constance.
Tours on Lake Constance with destinations in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. You can also combine the Boat Tour with visiting one of the cities at the lake. The price range, according to the tour you chose, is between 10€ and 20€. If you need help planning your tour on the Lake, you can find an Information point at Konstanz harbor: Hafenstraße 6. Unfortunatley, their internet presence is only available in German.
Meersburg.
When you take the car ferry from the Staad harbor, or one of the boat tours described above, you can reach the historic town of Meersburg. The town, lying directly across the lake from Konstanz, is well known for its medieval castle, its esplanade and the wines from the surrounding hills. You can try and buy the wines in little wine bars all over the town.
Mount Säntis, St. Gallen, Switzerland.
The highest mountain in the region is the Mount Säntis 61 kilometers from Konstanz. The top of the Säntis can be reached in only 10 minutes by cable railway. The ride on the railway costs about 20€ per person. Also, there are many hiking treks.
Oktoberfest, Munich / Konstanz.
The famous Munich Oktoberfest takes place from September 18th until October 4th. To get to Munich takes roughly 4.5 hours by train, or 3.5 hours by car. From September 17th to October 3rd, Konstanz will have its own little Oktoberfest am Bodensee. This is located in Klein Venedig, close to Konstanz main station.
Pfahlbauten, Unteruhldingen.
Reconstruction of a village of the stone age build on pickets in the water of Lake Constance. A tour through the village lasts about 45 to 60 minutes and is guided by a tour guide. The village is open everyday from 09:00-19:00, the last guided tour starts at 18:30. The entrance fee is 7€ per person. Rheinfall, Schaffhausen, Stein am Rhein.
The Rheinfall is a big waterfall at the Rhine river. To reach the Rheinfall, you can take one of the boat tours described above or take the train from Konstanz station. See this page for more informaton in English or German. You can also combine your trip to the Rheinfall with a visit in the historic city of Stein am Rhein.
Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz.
The regional orchestra Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz will perform Beethovens Symphony No. 9 on Wednesday 22th and Friday 24th in the Konstanz Konzil and on Thursday 23rd in Kulturzentrum Dreispitz in Kreuzlingen, each starting at 8pm. Tickets may be purchased at Tourist Information GmbH, Bahnhofplatz 13, 78462 Konstanz (phone +49 7531 1330-32) or at Theaterkasse (Stadttheater), Konzilstrasse 11, 78462 Konstanz (phone +49 7531 900-150). Ticket prices range from 15€ to 40€.
Technorama, Winterthur.
The Technorama is a Swiss center for science. The exhibit presents scientific phenomena in an interactive way. The motto is: "hands-on - brains-on". It is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10:00-17:00. The entrance fee is about 20€ per person. To reach the Technorama you have to go by train or car to Winterthur (roughly 45 minutes by train).
