How to get to Konstanz

Konstanz (engl.: Constance) is the largest town at Lake Constance and located in south-west Germany, directly at the border to Switzerland. Germany is a member of the European Union and both Germany and Switzerland belong to the Schengen area. The currency in Germany is the euro (EUR). Power supply is 230V/50Hz from type F sockets, which also accept plugs of type C (ungrounded Europlugs).

By Plane

Zurich Airport, Switzerland (ZRH)

The nearest international airport is located in Zurich, Switzerland, 60 kilometers south-west of Konstanz. Konstanz can easily be reached from Zurich Airport by train in one to two hours depending on the connection. The airport has its own train station that is located beneath the terminal. Trains leaving to Konstanz roughly every 30 minutes:

Monday to Thursday: from 05:15 to 23:18
Friday: from 05:15 to 00:29
Saturday: from 05:47 to 00:29
Sunday: from 05:47 to 23:18

Frankfurt am Main Airport, Germany (FRA)

Germany's largest international airport is located in Frankfurt am Main, 350 kilometers north of Konstanz. It takes approximately four and a half hours to reach Konstanz from Frankfurt by train. The airport has its own long-distance train station (called Fernbahnhof) that is located beneath the terminal. Trains leaving to Konstanz every hour:

Monday to Saturday: from 05:55 to 20:54
Sunday: from 06:54 to 20:54

Friedrichshafen Airport, Germany (FDH)

Friedrichshafen Airport is the nearest local airport, located 30 kilometers east of Konstanz, and it also offers flights within Europe (destinations). An intercity bus connects the airport with Konstanz in one hour and a half from Mondays to Fridays at 06:18, 08:08, 11:08, 14:08, 15:08, 16:08, and 17:08. See the bus schedule for more information.

Another possibility is to use the train from Friedrichshafen Flughafen to Konstanz or a train to Friedrichshafen Harbor and from there the catamaran to Konstanz Harbor that is located next to the city center. See again German railway's train schedule for more information.

Stuttgart Airport, Germany (STR)

Stuttgart Airport is located 150 kilometers north of Konstanz and it also offers international flights. Commuter trains connect it to Stuttgart main station where you can change to trains to Konstanz. The travel takes approximately three hours from Stuttgart Airport to Konstanz. By Bus

Konstanz offers a public transportation service. Tickets are included in the visitor's tax and handed out in your hotel. See the overview of bus service and the general route plan for information. Also notice this overview for detailed information where the buses go.

The university campus where the conference takes place is reachable from downtown by lines 9A and 9B (bus schedule lines 9A and 9B, route plan line 9A, route plan line 9B) every 15 minutes, and a trip from the main station takes 15 minutes.

The university has four different parking sites. Just follow the signs and have 1.30 EUR ready (all-day parking fee, no change).
